Specialist Department



The Dietetic and Nutritional Department provides effective nutritional assessment, dietary advice and support to patients, their carers and all staff involved in patient care. Our specialist work as part of the multidisciplinary team in the acute and community setting. They have the professional knowledge and expertise to assess a patients nutritional needs and to recommend appropriate evidence based nutrition therapy and care plans. 

Objectives of the Department

A balanced diet is necessary for maintaining a healthy lifestyle and nutritionists help people discover the best diets for their needs. The department promote healthy eating habits by developing health plans and educating people about food. Our specialists plan menus and nutritional programs. This involves evaluating clientele to determine their dietary needs and restrictions. Nutritionists also often consult with doctors and other healthcare professionals during the diet-planning process. They also oversee meal preparation and serving to make sure dietary needs and food safety regulations are being met.

Educating the public is a large part of this department. We provide clients with nutritional counseling and teach them the tenets of healthy eating and diet monitoring. We also work with clients' families, informing them of how to implement new diet plans at home.

(Head of Nutritional Team)

Eyram is the nutritionist and the head of the Head of the Department. She has Mphil in Food Nutrition from the University of Cape Coast (UCC), Ghana. She is currently serving as Assistant Lecturer at the Institute of Education (UCC) where she teaches Nutrition and Health, Meal Management, Food Biochemistry, Food Preservation among others. She brings to bear, a vast experience of practical knowledge on Food, Health and Nutrition.

(Head of Dietetic Team)

Dorinda Yebuah is a dietetic professional with over 3 years of professional experience. She works with the Ghana Health Service at Ho Municipal Hospital and as the head of the dietetic department. Dorinda ensures health and safety food production and delivery process and determines what menu is to be prepared and at what time.
